Research shows that quality family time is a key indicator of earlier, and safer reunifications. Family time; especially soon after a child’s removal from the home, can be a stressful experience for both parents and children. According to our 2019 Satisfaction Survey, the main barriers preventing family reunification from actively engaging in family time, were lack of access to services and
reliable transportation.

 

In instances where a family may have multiple children placed in different foster homes, across counties, the strain of these barriers can begin to feel unsurmountable. SPA 6 is home to the largest population of foster youth in LA County and our agency is committed to serving all families in their SPA of origin by making the following services readily available:

Regular in-person, supervised visitations shouldn’t cause a financial burden. We offer bus passes and gift cards to popular ride share apps such as Uber and Lyft to help lessen the load and increase the likelihood of family time appearances.

REUNIFICATION COURSES

We offer socially-distant, virtual and in-person courses that provide parents with more flexibility to study and learn on their own schedule. All court ordered reunification courses include:

Our group of dedicated parents and staff have successfully navigated the foster care system and can provide parents with emotional support, information and advice on how to bring your children back home with you.

Housing Assistance.png

HOUSING ASSISTANCE & COVID-19 RENT RELIEF

Financial assistance is available from the State of California for income eligible renters who have been impacted by COVID-19 and have past due rent or utilities, or who need help with upcoming rent or utilities. Assistance is available for unpaid rent dating back to April 1, 2020, as well as for future rent. We are available to provide more information and assistance in completing the rent relief application.
